Treatment Plant Under Consideration for Reactivation

Posted in News2 years ago • Written by staffNo Comments

Henry County is considering reopening its Lower Smith River Wastewater Treatment Plant, after it was deactivated in 2004. The county recently received a grant to build a berm around the plant to help address flood issues. The facility is only used for pre-treatment, then the sewage is sent to the Martinsville plant. The county says technology and the customer basis have changed since 2004, so they are weighing the options. The county does not know when a decision will be made about the reactivation.
