Perriello Apologizes for Trump – Terrorist Attack Comparison
Tom Perriello said he was sorry for comparing the win of Donald Trump for President to the terrorist attacks of September 11th. Specifically, Perriello called the election win a “political and constitutional September 11th.” Conservative blogs created a small internet virus and politicians on both sides fed the fire including Perriello’s primary opponent, Lt. Governor Ralph Northam calling the comparison “awful and offensive.” Still, six weeks into his campaign, Perriello has moved into a tie with Northam for the Democratic nomination for governor, but most voters are undecided ahead of the June primary, according to a new survey. Perriello matched Northam at 19 percent in the Quinnipiac survey, but 61 percent were undecided. Ed Gillespie, former head of the Republican National Committee, leads the GOP primary field, with 24 percent, to 7 percent for Corey Stewart, 5 percent for state Sen. Frank Wagner, and 2 percent for Denver Riggleman.
