Senate Puts Teeth in “Left-Lane-Bandit” Law

Posted in News1 year ago • Written by staffNo Comments

The Senate voted 35-5 on Monday to create a $250 fine for “left-lane bandits” — motorists who drive in the left lane of a highway even when they’re not passing another vehicle. Doing so is already illegal, but House Bill 2201 creates the fine. The bill previously passed the House 66-31. The Senate voted 22-18 on Monday to approve the “Tebow Bill” that would allow home-schooled students to play public high school sports. Gov. Terry McAuliffe has vetoed the bill the past two years. House Bill 1578, cleared the House of Delegates on a 60-38 vote. The measure is called the “Tebow Bill” after Tim Tebow, who was home-schooled and later won the Heisman Trophy as a quarterback for the University of Florida.
